Hello.
We need art jurors for the upcoming 5th Annual Art Exhibition of an International event.
So far we have one wonderful art juror who has never had any art jury experience but she enjoys art greatly.
We also have another art juror who was associated with a Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum for over 20 years. Then afterwards, for another 10 years acted as Associate Curator and became the Gallery's Curator-in-Charge.
As you can see we have a wide range of diversity and we seek more.
People of color, LGBTQI
are very strongly encouraged to apply.
The jurying process takes exactly two days. Each juror will judge the art exhibition, which can include up to 180 pieces of art work in the following medium categories: sculpture, painting, watercolor, drawing, jewelry, 2D Design, ceramics, photography and more. Jury process consists of looking at a projector screen and/or computer screen of images in a room with several other jurors. The jurors will then work with an experienced artist and event to work through the jury process. Each Juror will be paid a stipend of $75 per day for a total of $150.00. There are exactly 7 hours and 45 minutes of work per day (this excludes break times): work day goes from 11am-9pm, with five 15 minute breaks (one about every 2 hours to eat, stretch, etc) and a 60 minute dinner break all of which takes place in Olympia, Washington. People are welcome to travel from anywhere for this job. Cell phones must strictly be turned off (not on vibrate) during the jury process but may be checked during breaks. No alcohol permitted during the jury process. Snacks and Dinner are provided. A signed and notarized agreement is needed in advance.
Qualifications:
Should be comfortable speaking during a 10 minute video interview that will appear online afterwards about decisions made in the jury process.
Must understand the value of critique in a competitive arts environment.
Should be familiar with most mediums, but could be more fluent in a selection of mediums.
Information such as dates and locations will be scheduled later. We will endeavor to schedule the two consecutive dates around the schedules of the jurors after we find the jurors so we can find a date and time that works for everyone.
No experience needed, but please give a detailed reason why you would like this gig.
All age groups considered. Students are welcome.
People of all races, sexual orientations and physical abilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Jury process will take place on a date which does not fall on religious holidays and in a wheelchair accessible location. Meals will respect dietary restrictions.
We would love to hear from you if you are interested. The more detailed reason for why you are interested, the more likely we are to contact you regardless of your experience level.
We are looking far and wide for a very diverse bunch of people who are excited about this opportunity. In addition we plan on having a long waiting list of people so that if anyone cancels at the last minute we can contact jurors from our waiting list.
If you still see this web page up, we still need people.
